MENDOTA - William Thomas Latimer, 92, of Mendota, formerly of rural Earlville, passed away March 21, 2019 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at First Presbyterian Church in Paw Paw with Rev. Dr. Anne Hoflen officiating. The family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon following the memorial service at the church in Paw Paw. Graveside services will take place after the luncheon at Precinct Cemetery, rural Earlville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on March 27 at the church.

Bill was born Oct. 25, 1926 in Lee County to Thomas McKinley and Nellie Marie (Brown) Latimer. He married Doris Ethelyn Cornell on Aug. 21, 1949 at Grandview Christian Church in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Marie (Richard) Wax of Mineral, Va., Susan Jane (Albert) White of Lexington, Ky., Sandra Jean Latimer of Chicago and Nancy Anne (Gary) Chemelewski of Colleyville, Texas ; 10 grandchildren, Katharine (Raymond) Sherman, David (Ann) Wax, Andrew (Leah) Wax, Steven (Jennifer) Phillippe, Kevin Phillippe, Adam (Raquel) Labotka, Matthew Labotka, Lori (Michael Giansiracusa) Labotka, William (Katharine) Chemelewski, and Robert Chemelewski; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one grandson, Jason Phillippe; and one brother, Wayne Edward Latimer.

Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He and Doris farmed in rural Earlville for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paw Paw, where he was an elder and deacon. He also was a member of Paw Paw American Legion Post 511. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends.
