OGLESBY - The 2020 Virtual Illinois Farm Economics Summit (IFES), organized by the University of Illinois Extension and the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, will be held in December. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the event will be virtual rather than in-person.

OGLESBY - The 2020 Virtual Illinois Farm Economics Summit (IFES), organized by the University of Illinois Extension and the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, will be held in December. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the event will be virtual rather than in-person.

IFES is specifically designed for farm operators, lenders, land owners, and other agribusiness professionals. The summit will consist of five webinars, each covering an individual topic and take place on Dec. 1, 4, 8, 11 and 15. Each webinar will run from 11 a.m. to noon and will include 30 minutes of presentation and 30 minutes of Q&A.

Topics include:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 1 - 2021 Market Outlook for Corn and Soybeans
  • Friday, Dec. 4 - 2020 and 2021 Grain Farm Income Outlook with Risk and Rental Implications
  • Tuesday, Dec. 8 - Farm Program and Crop Insurance Decisions for 2021
  • Friday, Dec. 11 - Straining the Alphabet Soup: Post-election farm policy outlook after three years of ad hoc farm payments
  • Tuesday, Dec. 15 - Farmland Markets and Macro Markets
