MENDOTA - Virginia L. Hampton, 95, of Mendota died March 21, 2017 at Prairie Crossing Center, Shabbona.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on March 28 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Burial was at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to time of services on March 28 at the funeral home.
Virginia was born Nov. 1, 1921 to Arthur and Edith (Williams) Trail. She married Charles Hampton. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Survivors include one daughter, LuAnn (Don) Coan of Sublette; four sons, John Hampton of Mendota, Joe Hampton, Rensselaer, Ind., Doug (Shelley) Hampton of LaMoille and Paul (Sandy) Hampton of Mendota; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Jim and Carman; two grandsons, Douglas and Juan; one granddaughter, Brenda; two great-grandsons; and one sister.
Virginia was employed by Mendota Community Hospital and Westclox. She loved to fish whenever she could.
