MENDOTA – The Mendota Golf Course Ladies Auxiliary recently hosted their annual Victory Tournament to support cancer awareness. A balloon launch honors those who are struggling with or have passed away from cancer. Donations are collected from auxiliary members and given to OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota.

This year Cheryl Boelk from the oncology unit was present to accept a $400 check. Cheryl said the donation was greatly appreciated and will help towards blanket warmers, special chairs and linens.

Golf awards were given as follows: Sue Wasmer for closest to the Pink Ribbon banner on Hole 2, Linda Purvis for the longest putt on Hole 5, Sue Wasmer for closest to pin on Hole 7, and Sandra Gann for longest putt on Hole 9.

There was only one chip-in by Margo Phillips on Hole 3.

There were four golfers that had low putts with 14, Sandy Hanson, Sue Urso, Sue Wasmer and Lynne Bonnell. A prize for high putts was given to Annette Truckenbrod.

The Victory Tournament winner is determined by adding best score from playing front and back nine on the course and then the handicap is deducted to determine winner.

The Victory Tournament winner for 2017 is Sue Wasmer. Peggy Eller is the winner of the Victory Tournament Bridge Group. Their names will be put on the Victory Tournament plaque.

Nancy Smith won the $55 for 50/50, Barb Guilfoyle won the donated Sullivans raffle basket, and Sandra Gann won the floral arrangement donated by Floralcrest.
