The Mendota varsity golf team finished second in the Big Northern Conference meet and three Trojan golfers earned all-conference status in the process. The meet was held on Sept. 27 at Timber Pointe Golf Club in Poplar Grove.
Landing on the all-conference team were Colton Scheppers, Taylor Joyce and Austin Robinson. Scheppers paced the Trojans with a round of 81, good enough for fourth place in the individual standings. Joyce checked in next with an 82, while Robinson shot an 85.
Also participating for Mendota were Jack Beetz (92), Zeke Hessenberger (94) and Ethan Hanaman (96).
Owen Hultman of Rockford Christian was the overall champion with a 73.
Hultman helped his team to a first-place showing in the team standings with a 321. The Trojans were next with a 340, while Winnebago (342), Byron (348) and Rock Falls (348) rounded out the top five. The bottom five teams were Stillman Valley (354), Rockford Lutheran (362), Oregon (368), Dixon (429) and North Boone (441).

Mendota’s junior varsity squad participated in the conference meet at Genoa-Kingston on Sept. 29 and finished eighth in the team standings with a score of 196.
Logan Brandner and Liam McGann turned in the low score for the Trojans, each with a 48. Shea Doughty was just one stroke back at 49, followed by Mateo Escatel (51), Aaron Reddin (53) and Kevin Lewis (63).
