LA SALLE COUNTY - The University of Illinois Extension Bureau, LaSalle and Marshall-Putnam 4-H is honoring the seniors of 2020. The first week’s honoree is Molly Boyd.

Boyd is a member of the PC Progressors, Marshall-Putnam Federation (officer), Marshall-Putnam Ambassador and participated in Soo 4-H Sewing SPIN club in Marshall-Putnam. She enjoys cooking projects the most. [This is because] “I will forever remember waking up and staying up at crazy times to bake with my gramma,” she explained.

In 4-H, Boyd learned to speak to people other than her family members, introduce herself to new people, be a leader and so much more. “4-H has shaped me into the person that I am today,” she said.

4-H plays a big role in many of her best including numerous fashion reviews, achievement nights, 4-H fun days and 4-H fairs.

Boyd’s advice to younger 4-H’ers is “be willing to listen to advice from people that have had more experience.” Her plans for the future are to attend a two-year college and transfer to a university or go straight to a four-year university to obtain a degree in agriculture business.

“I would like to thank my mom (Helen Lenkaitis), my gramma (Jane Lenkaitis), Margy Mattern, Tonni Wink, Tammy Brown, Anne Scheel, Sidney Wilson and so many others,” Boyd said.

If you have questions or for information about joining 4-H, e-mail Toni Pienta at fusinatt@illinois.edu for LaSalle County, Danielle Gapinski des85@illinois.edu for Bureau County or Anne Scheel at amscheel@illinois.edu for Marshall-Putnam, or call U of I Extension – Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit at (815) 224-0889.
