TRIUMPH - Two Waltham Curling Club junior teams were victorious at the Midwest Curling Association U18 Regional Playdowns held on Dec. 27 and 28 at the Waltham Curling Club in Triumph.
The Midwest Regional Girls Champions are Waltham Curling Club’s Team Hagenbuch, which includes Bella Hagenbuch, Genevieve Salander, Mae Hagenbuch and Faith Geake. For the second year in a row, the Waltham girls’ team went undefeated in regional competition and will now go on to represent the Midwest Curling Association (MCA) in the 2020 U18 Junior National Championship.
The Midwest Regional Boys Champions are Team Salander of the Waltham Curling Club, with team members Maxwell Salander, Logan Brandner, Logan Fahr and Dagan Setchell. They also went undefeated at the regional competition and will represent the MCA at the U18 National Championships.

The Midwest Curling Association covers all curling clubs in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. To determine who would advance to represent the Midwest Curling Association at nationals, the teams from those three states played a round robin. The Waltham teams will be among 10 girls’ teams and 10 boys’ teams from the other regional competitions held around the nation who will compete at the National event from March 17-22 in Wausau, Wis.
