Two MHS bowlers punch ticket to sectional

Bauer brothers advancing after performance in Dixon Regional

MENDOTA – Two Mendota Trojan bowlers are headed to the sectional round of competition after participating in the Dixon Boys’ Regional Bowling Tournament on Jan. 14.

Landon Bauer and Paxton Bauer were both among the top 10 bowlers not on an advancing team, earning them a trip to the sectional. The Trojans missed out on advancing as a team by 16 pins.

Landon Bauer finished in sixth place overall with a 1241 series. He rolled games of 176, 222, 193, 199, 237 and 214. Paxton Bauer took 12th place overall with a 1210 series. He recorded games of 179, 213, 224, 191, 220 and 183.

Four other Mendota bowlers competed in the regional and had their season come to a close. Aiden Kent Tucker had a six-game series of 1104 with games of 188, 178, 194, 181, 192 and 171. Alex Holland finished with a 1034 series with games of 153, 176, 180, 144, 201 and 180. Clay Buffington and Kooper Novak each bowled three games. Buffington (510) had games of 183, 162 and 165, while Novak (576) rolled a 210, 182 and 184.

In the team standings, Oregon won the regional title with a 5830 series. Other teams advancing to the sectional include Freeport (5743), Sterling (5692) and Geneseo (5690). The Trojans ended in fifth place with a score of 5675.

Landon Bauer and Paxton Bauer will compete in the Rockford Guilford Sectional on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford.
