Two free wrestling camps set for June in Mendota

MENDOTA – A Girls’ Wrestling Camp will be held June 5-8 from 5:30-7 p.m. each day in the auxiliary gym at Mendota High School. The camp is for ages 7-17 and is free.
In 2023, the state of Illinois had its first girls’-only state tournament series. Mendota High School had three girls compete in the tournament. Now is the time to grow girls’ wrestling in Mendota.
Girls’ weight classes are 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 180 and 235. Girls can wrestle boys at boys’ weight classes.
Equipment needed for the camp includes shorts, shirt, compression shorts, sports bra, towel, water/sports drink, running or wrestling shoes and headgear if desired.

A Mixed Gender Wrestling Camp will be held June 19-22 from 5:30-7 p.m. each day in the auxiliary gym at Mendota High School. The camp is for ages 7-17 and is free. Campers will learn fundamentals and advanced wrestling.
Boys’ weight classes are 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285.
Equipment needed for the camp includes shorts, shirt, compression shorts, sports bra (girls), towel, water/sports drink, running or wrestling shoes and headgear if desired.
