LA SALLE - Free amplified phones are available for Illinois residents. Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living (IVCIL) in LaSalle will hold an open house on Monday, June 12 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. to test and then select a free amplified phone.
Interested individuals should call (815) 224-3126 to schedule an appointment and request an application be sent to you. The application and copies of required paperwork will be needed at your appointment.
The qualifications for this program include: must be a legal resident of Illinois, have a signature from a doctor or audiologist verifying hearing loss and have standard phone service at home. There are no age or income restrictions.
Amplifiers for cell phones and other phone accessories including a phone flasher, amplified answering machine, lamp flasher and caller I.D. are also available. This service is made available through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC) program.
IVCIL is located at 18 Gunia Dr., LaSalle (off of Rt. 351 in north LaSalle).
