Mendota concluded its home schedule with an 11-4 loss to North Boone in Big Northern Conference varsity baseball action on May 7 at the MHS field.
North Boone scored three runs in the first inning and was never headed. The Trojans pushed across one run in the bottom of the first and added three in the sixth.
Mendota finished with seven hits. Andres Castaneda had a double, while Gavin Glazebrook and Emilio Perez each drove in one run.
Johnnie Gonzalez got the start on the hill for the Trojans and pitched four innings. He permitted four hits, nine runs, one earned run, walked six and struck out two. Mendota’s defense committed eight errors. Noah Garza hurled the final three frames.

The Trojans dropped both ends of a double-header at Genoa-Kingston on May 10. Mendota finished the conference season with a 2-18 record.
The Cogs scored 12 of their runs in the third inning.
Mendota’s only run came in the first when Alex Figueroa singled home Castaneda, who had doubled to lead off the game.
Noah Garza started on the hill for the Trojans and took the loss. Ted Landgraf and Derek Nanez also had stints on the mound.
Genoa-Kingston won game two, 11-2.
Joel Escatel (two singles) had two of Mendota’s three hits. Landgraf drove in a run.
Mason DeFore was the losing pitcher, lasting until the second when Escatel took over. Abel Guerra pitched the final three innings.
