Trojans to host Sandwich in first round of Lisle Baseball Regional

LISLE – The Mendota Trojans have been assigned to the Lisle (Sr.) Class 2A Regional Baseball Tournament to be played May 16, 18, 19 and 21.

There will be two play-in games at sites of the higher seeded team. Mendota will host Sandwich at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 16 and Lisle will entertain Elgin St. Edward.

The winner of the Mendota-Sandwich contest will advance to the semifinals to meet Aurora Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Lisle. The other first-round winner will play Wheaton Academy at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19.

The semifinal-round winners will battle for the regional championship at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

The Lisle (Sr.) Regional champ will move on to the Stillman Valley Sectional to face the winner of the Byron Regional. The other two sectional participants will come from the Richmond-Burton and Winnebago regionals.

3 – Winner 1 vs. Aurora Central Catholic – 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 19

4 – Winner 2 vs. Wheaton Academy – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 21

5 – Winner 3 vs. Winner 4 – 11 a.m.
