The Mendota varsity boys’ basketball team wrapped up its home schedule with a 48-35 loss to Stillman Valley in a Big Northern Conference contest on Feb. 11 at the MHS gym.
Yet another slow start plagued the Trojans. They found themselves trailing 13-4 after the opening period and never could catch up. Mendota was down 28-14 at the half and 36-22 after three.
Alexis Quintana (12 points) and Chris Sandoval (10 points) led the Trojan offense. Sandoval connected on a pair of three-point field goals.

Mendota couldn’t keep pace with North Boone in the second half and dropped a 66-51 BNC game on Feb. 14 at Poplar Grove.
The Trojans rallied from a 14-8 deficit after one to tie the game at 26-all heading to intermission. But the Vikings put up 20 points in each of the final two frames while Mendota could only score 25 second-half points.
Quintana and Krew Bond each had nine points to top the Trojans (2-28, 0-9), while Sandoval and Gavin Glazebrook provided eight points apiece.
