Trojan trackmen 4th in quadrangular

AMBOY – The Mendota boys’ track team went up against three other squads in a quadrangular meet at Amboy on April 2. Kewanee claimed the top spot in the event with 89 points, followed by Amboy-LaMoille with 70, Sterling Newman with 55 and the Trojans with 27.

Mendota did not have a first-place winner, but took second in three events. Josue Arteaga was runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 37-2 and Jae’Shaun Hughes was second in the high jump at 5-0, while the Trojans’ 400-meter relay team also took second with a time of 47.06.

Mendota 2nd place: Josue Arteaga, triple jump, 37-2; Jae’Shaun Hughes, high jump, 5-0; 400m relay, 47.06

Mendota 3rd place: Cole Stremlau, shot put, 38-5.75; Damien Magallanes, 110m hurdles, 20.13; Eddy Sandoval, 100m dash, 11.78

Mendota 4th place: Tyler Preston, 800m run, 2:42.3

Mendota 5th place: Gustavo Salinas, discus, 82-0.5; J. Arteaga, long jump, 17-5; Sam Lawrence, 800m run, 2:49.29; Jose Sandoval, 1600m run, 5:24.72

Mendota 6th place: Cody Jenner, 100m dash, 12.27; Magallanes, 400m dash, 1:02.1; Hughes, 200m dash, 26.87
