MENDOTA – The Mendota Trojan varsity golf team moved to 4-0 on the season with a convincing victory over Genoa-Kingston on Sept. 3 at the Mendota Golf Club. The Trojans turned in an outstanding round of 177 to blow past the Cogs, who ended with a 225.
Ethan Hanaman led the way for Mendota with low meet score of 39. Coming in at 46 were Zeke Hessenberger, Jack Beetz and Clayton Buffington, while Logan Brandner (49) and Liam McGann (56) completed the Trojan lineup.
Mendota also had an easy time in claiming victory in the junior varsity meet, 205-234.
The Trojans’ Mateo Escatel was the meet medalist with a 48. He was one stroke better than teammate Drake Dennis’s 49. Xzavior Orozco checked in next with a 53, followed by Owen Aughenbaugh and Kody Becket each with 55s, and Dominik Stamberger with a 56.
