MENDOTA - Relay for Life of Upper Illinois Valley is excited to be planning its annual kick-off event, a Trivia Night on Saturday evening, Jan. 20. The kick-off will again take place at the Mendota Moose Lodge.

This is the second year the Relay for Life committee will host a trivia night to start the new Relay year. They invite the public to join the fun at their kickoff Trivia Night, which will also include a bake sale, 50/50 drawing, door prizes and food along with trivia. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and trivia will begin at 6:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the evening while finding out more about Relay and what it’s all about.

Those attending Trivia Night may sign up that night for the Survivor’s Dinner, the Cancer Action Network (CAN), join a Relay team or sign up to help the committee plan this year’s activities.

Trivia teams may register early by calling (815) 539-5418, e-mailing rita_borelli@yahoo.com or stopping by the Mendota City Clerk’s office. Cost to participate is $10 per person with teams of 2-10 people. There will be 10 rounds of questions with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. Mulligans will be sold 2/$5. Anyone who signs up a team by Wednesday, Jan. 17 will receive two free mulligans for their team.

This year’s Relay for Life event is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 and will take place at Mendota High School. The purpose of the Relay is to raise money to help the American Cancer Society defeat cancer, allowing everyone the opportunity to celebrate more birthdays. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy a great night of trivia on Jan. 20 while supporting the local 2018 Relay for Life event.
