MENDOTA - Todd L. Barrett, 54, of Mendota passed away peacefully July 8, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family, after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

MENDOTA - Todd L. Barrett, 54, of Mendota passed away peacefully July 8, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family, after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Wisner Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.

Todd was born March 21, 1965 in Mendota to Larry and Jeanne (Biers) Barrett. He married the love of his life, Beverly (Etheridge) Basham on April 21, 2013 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota.

Survivors include his wife of Mendota; his two sons, Branson Barrett and Ryan Barrett, both at home; his parents, Larry and Jeanne Barrett of Mendota; one brother, Jeff (Marcy Botts) Barrett of Mendota; one sister, Juli (Jason) Leifheit of Mendota; paternal grandmother, Eloise Barrett of Mendota; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and one great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Keith Barrett; maternal grandfather, Francis Biers; maternal grandmother, Mary Biers Flaherty; maternal step-grandfather, Francis Flaherty; a sister-in-law, Susan (Rogalski) Barrett; an aunt and two uncles.

Todd graduated from Mendota High School in 1983 and from Illinois State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in business management. He was an owner of various businesses throughout his life. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 444, Joliet and Holy Cross Church. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, trapping, wrestling, weight lifting, swimming, riding his motorcycle and vacationing as often as possible. He truly lived life to the fullest and was loved and respected by all. #barrettstrong
