ROCK FALLS – Three Mendota Trojan golfers are headed to the sectional tournament after participating in the Rock Falls Class 2A Regional on Oct. 2.
Taylor Joyce led the three sectional qualifiers for Mendota with a round of 78. Teammate Zeke Hessenberger was just one stroke back with a 79, while Austin Robinson earned his second straight trip to the sectional round with an 89.
Rounding out the Mendota scores were Colton Scheppers with a 92, Ethan Hanaman with a 96 and Jack Beetz with a 100.
Mendota had a team total of 338, which was good enough for fifth place in the team standings. The top three teams advancing to the sectional are Rock Falls (313), Freeport (322) and Streator (333). LaSalle-Peru also shot a 338, but finished in the fourth position with a lower score by the fifth golfer.
The sectional will be hosted by Maple Park (Kaneland) and played at Hughes Creek Golf Course in Elburn on Monday, Oct. 8.
