PRINCETON – Three Mendota Trojan wrestlers extended their season by at least another week after participating in the Princeton Class 1A Regional on Feb. 3.
Mendota’s Arturo Serrano claimed the first-place prize in the 285-pound category by pinning both of his opponents.
Teammates Tony Aughenbaugh and Jason Needs also advanced out of the regional by finishing third in their weight class. Aughenbaugh posted a 2-1 record at 126 pounds, while Needs won three of four matches at 152 pounds.
Logan Eppard participated in the 170-pound bracket and won one of three matches.
Princeton claimed the team title with 157 points. The Trojans were eighth in the team standings with 55.5 points.
The three Mendota wrestlers will compete in the Oregon Sectional on Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10.
