Thousands to converge on Sublette for Farm Toy & Antique Tractor Show

SUBLETTE – The 36th annual Sublette Farm Toy and Antique Tractor Show will be held Sunday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual Sublette Toy Show Dinner is set for Saturday, March 17 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Hall. The catered dinner begins at 6 p.m. and is followed by entertainment and the presentation of scholarships.

Toy Show Sunday will actually begin at 7 a.m. with the Sublette Fire Department’s Pancake & Sausage Breakfast at Ellice Dinges Memorial Center. The breakfast will continue until noon.

The Toy Show will occupy seven buildings – Main Street Repair, Jacoby Building, Sublette Farmers Elevator, Sublette Fire Station, Sublette Community Building, Ellice Dinges Center and Village Mall.

Other events will be held at various locations in the village. A Craft Show is set for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Hall, a Sports Card Show will be held at the fire station, a model train layout and miniature farm layouts can be viewed at Ellice Dinges Center and a Bake Sale is planned for the Sublette Community Building.

Main Street will be lined with semi tractors and antique trucks, antique tractors and farm machinery can be seen in downtown Sublette and an antique car show is scheduled for U.S. 52 near Sublette BP. Also, there will be an open house at the historic Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church from noon-3 p.m.

In addition to the breakfast, other food will be available from the Sub-Let Indians and Maytown Comets 4-H clubs at the community building and Sublette Elevator.

This year’s Toy Show Dinner entertainment on Saturday will be provided by Ken Mate. Mate is a comedy/magician and a standup comedian. He is widely acclaimed for his entertaining show. Mate appeared at the dinner in 2015 and promises an all-new show in 2018.

Mate has performed his blend of stand-up comedy and magic for over three decades. He has appeared with more than 80 stars as the guest opening act including the bands Chicago and Alabama, The Beach Boys, Wynona Judd, Smokey Robinson, Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Crystal Gayle, Bobby Vinton, Weird Al, Ann Jillian, Ray Charles, Charlie Daniels, and The Smother Brothers.

Mate was featured on the NBC TV special taped at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas titled “The World’s Greatest Magic.” The show was hosted by the late John Ritter.

Mate is a versatile variety artist that is skilled in comedic presentations, magic, mind tricks, juggling and balloon sculpture. He has surprised many with his ability to play the piano, guitar and even the clarinet.

Tickets for the dinner and show are available at the Pioneer State Bank. The cost is $20 and includes the dinner, entertainment and door prizes.
