MENDOTA – Tammy E. Sterling-Dober, 47 of Mendota passed away May 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family after a one year battle with lung cancer.
Visitation was Monday, May 13 from 4-7 p.m., at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Private burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be announced.
Tammy was born June 19, 1971 in Dixon to Elmer and Betty (Smith) Sterling.
Tammy was a 1989 graduate of Mendota High School. She worked Northern Illinois Ambulance Billing for 9 years. She was a social member of Mendota VFW Post 4079. She enjoyed bonfires, bird watching, target shooting and riding around Troy Grove in her golf cart Daisy.
She is survived by her husband Darrel Dober of Troy Grove; her son Dillon Upchurch of Byron; three daughters Chelsea Glazebrook, Kendra Frey and Bria Frey all of Mendota; two brothers Mike (Cheryl) Sterling of Mendota and Doug (Nancy) Sterling of Normal; two grandchildren Vincent Upchurch and Aubrey Upchurch both of Byron; the father of Kendra and Bria, Kent Frey of Ottawa and her therapy dog Emma.
She was preceded by her parents and her stepfather Larry Jansen.
Memorials may be directed to the family or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
