ROCKFORD – For the second straight year, the Rockford University men's basketball program had a pair of players earn postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford) was named First Team All-NACC, while senior Trae Blumhorst (Mendota) was voted the NACC Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive season Rockford has had at least one first team all-conference selection and the second straight season the Regents have had the conference's defensive player of the year.

Blumhorst earned postseason recognition for the second time in his collegiate career when he was voted the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year by the conference's coaches. Blumhorst was the anchor for the Regent defense all season long, often drawing the task of guarding the opposing team's top scorer. He helped lead an improved Rockford defense, which allowed nearly seven fewer points and forced three more turnovers per game this year compared to a season ago. Individually Blumhorst finished in the top 10 in the conference in multiple categories. He was second in the NACC averaging 1.6 blocks per game, giving him a total of 39 for the season, which was just two behind the NACC leader. Additionally, Blumhorst finished eighth in the conference with 5.4 defensive rebounds per game and tied for eighth with 1.3 steals per game. On top of his defensive contributions, Blumhorst was also a key component to the Regents' offensive success. The Mendota native ranked fifth in the NACC with 4.2 assists per game and 13th with 6.5 rebounds per game, while also finishing as Rockford's second leading scorer averaging 11.9 points.
