Sweet Corn Festival offers special afternoon for special kids on Aug. 11

MENDOTA – Windy City Amusements of St. Charles will again be setting up on the midway at this year’s Mendota Sweet Corn Festival. They will be having a Special Afternoon for Special Kids on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

“We love being able to give families this opportunity to enjoy the carnival when it would normally not be as feasible. This has been a huge success in years past and we are so pleased to be offering it once again,” Chamber President and CEO Shelby Weide stated.

The carnival will open early for only those kids and adults with special needs on Sweet Corn Festival Thursday. This promotion is essentially a FREE carnival, for those with special needs and their immediate family members only. The midways will be less crowded with no long lines to wait in, nor any charge to ride as much as they wish.  At 5:30 p.m., the carnival will close and reopen again at 6 p.m. for the general public.

It does not matter where the family is from, if they would like to participate they are welcome. The Chamber asks the family to pre-register online at sweetcornfestival.com by clicking the calendar tab and downloading the form and getting it to the Chamber office or just stop by the Chamber office to fill out the form.  Families are to check in at the registration tent beginning at 2:30 on Aug. 11.

Most adult rides will be unavailable during this special time and the lights will be dimmed and music lowered for those who would be uncomfortable with it.

“We hope that everyone will take advantage and help spread the word about the ‘Special Afternoon for Special Kids’ promotions offered by Windy City Amusements here at the 75th Annual Sweet Corn Festival,” said Weide.
