MENDOTA – The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Prescott Brothers, Inc. as one of the major Sweet Corn Festival sponsors. They will be instrumental in bringing Chicago’s South Shore Drill Team to perform on Sunday, Aug. 13.
Prescott Bros.’ generosity in co-sponsorship will bring this nationally-known group of young performers, ranging in age from 8 to 21, to Mendota to not only perform along the parade route, but to put on an electrifying performance in front of the Mendota Elks Club on Indiana Ave. downtown at approximately 3:30 p.m. following the parade.
The South Shore drill team students are hard working and it shows in their performances and carries over to their personal lives. Through South Shore’s Education Support Program, the team offers tutoring for those who struggle in school. Despite the fact that the majority of members come from schools where the drop-out rate is as high as 55 percent, the team sees 99 percent of its members graduate with their class. Nearly all go on to college or technical school.
The staff of Prescott Bros., Inc. in Mendota reminds everyone to be on hand for the not-to-be missed performances of the South Shore Drill Team. Parade begins at 1 p.m.
