MENDOTA – Joining the list of major sponsors of Mendota’s 70^th Sweet Corn Festival will be Financial Plus Credit Union of Mendota. FPCU is generously co-sponsoring the renowned South Shore Drill Team, who will perform in the Sweet Corn Festival Grand Parade on Sunday, August 13 at 1 p.m., and put on a post-parade performance in front of the Mendota Elks Lodge downtown at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Chicago’s premier precision drill team is celebrating their 36^th year of performing, and is currently serving more than 300 young people. What began years ago as four kids twirling rifles has grown into a nationally known organization with a mission that extends beyond entertainment. They are a prevention program devoted to helping young people from some of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods to steer clear of gangs, drugs, and violence, while developing a strong work ethic, self-confidence and respect for themselves and others.
