Summer reading program registration to begin

Posted

MENDOTA – It is time to register for the summer reading program at Mendota Graves-Hume Library! Sign-up for “Reading by Design” will be held at the library June 19-20. This science and art-based program, running from July 3-26, will include many free events and activities for all ages, from babies through adults.

As always, look for lots of fun and great prizes. Three $50 Target gift cards will be awarded as the children’s grand prizes this year. Participants must have a current Graves-Hume Library card, with no fines or overdue books, to register.

Brand new this year is a special program, for babies and toddlers up to 2 years old, to enjoy with a caregiver. This “Shake Rattle & Roll” session will meet on Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

There will be a separate preschool program for children ages 3-5 (including those entering kindergarten in the fall of 2017). Children must be 3 years old by July 3 to participate. Parents may choose one of three sessions: Tuesday mornings (10:30-11:30 a.m.), or Tuesday or Thursday afternoons (12:30-1:30 p.m.).

All 1st-4th graders (Fall of 2017), and also 5th-8th graders (Fall 2017) will meet on Wednesday afternoons for exciting programs.

Ninth graders-adults will log their reading time to be entered into drawings for amazing prizes. A Nook will be awarded as the grand prize.

All groups will meet together on July 26 at 6:30 p.m. for a unique family program. This juggling performance will be full of wacky comedy and fun that the whole family will love!

Don’t forget to register at the library June 19-30 for the free summer reading program. Get ready for some fun, games and surprises this summer! For more information call the library at (815) 538-5142.
