UTICA - Illinois Licensed Beverage Association (ILBA), Chapter 76, has scheduled a class for the state’s mandated BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training) certification. The class will be held at Jack’s Place at Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort, Utica on Sunday, Oct. 28. The three-hour class will begin at 1 p.m.

Cost is free for ILBA members and their staff. Non-member cost is $20 per person. Advanced registration is required. To register, call Dan Burke at (815) 228-7710.

Based on the population in LaSalle County, BASSET training certification became mandatory as of July 1, 2017. Certification is good for three years and new employees are required to obtain certification within 120 days of being hired.

Kevin Steder, president of ILBA Chapter 76, said their classes are taught by people established and respected within the hospitality industry. “They are state certified and encourage attendees to ask questions concerning their individual situations,” he noted. “We also include the most up to date information regarding laws and regulations that affect our industry.”

Free BASSET training is just one of many membership benefits offered by ILBA. The local chapter meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month. For more membership information, contact Kevin Steder at (815) 343-3485.
