A check for $2,000 was presented to American Cancer Society/Relay for Life and a check for $1,157 was given to the Pink Ribbon Club of the Illinois Valley as a result of October fundraising efforts at Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center. At the presentation, left to right, are Kathy Casstevens, Starved Rock Lodge marketing director; Mitch Wagner, Starved Rock Lodge vice-president of food & beverage; Amy Trimble, CEO/Starved Rock Lodge; Nancy Jackson, Pink Ribbon Club; Aimee Holland, American Cancer Society/Relay for Life; and Des Ratajczak, Back Door Lounge manager. On Oct. 14, Hike for a Cure took place on the Starved Rock Lodge Veranda. Participants made a donation and hiked to the top of Starved Rock in support of a cure for breast cancer. The event also included raffle prizes. Throughout the month, Lodge employees donated every Friday when they were allowed to wear jeans as part of the “Jeans for a Cause” program. Hike for a Cure will take place again in 2019 on the morning of Angel of Hopefest in downtown Utica. (Photo contributed)
