St. Theresa’s Cemetery featured at Earlville Cemetery Walk

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Foundation for Excellence in Education will host a Cemetery Walk on Sunday, July 9 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery honoring “Members of the Parish.”

Several individuals will be honored during the walk including two priests, Father Hahn and Father Wolvers, who formerly served at St. Theresa’s. Father Hahn, who was at St. Theresa’s for 40 years, will be portrayed by Pastor Del Keilman of the Presbyterian Church in Earlville.

Father Wolvers served for six years at St. Theresa's Church and was loved by everyone during his time at the parish. He will be portrayed by Bill Landers of Earlville.

Other Earlville residents to be honored include Leo McConville, who was known as the “Irish Pioneer from the South Prairie.” He will be portrayed by his great-grandson, Jonathon McConville of Mendota.

Earle Frame was well known in Earlville as the editor of the Earlville Leader and was also a representative on the city council. He will be portrayed by his son, Charles Frame of Manteno.

Joseph Maly, an Army veteran and POW during World War II, will be portrayed by his grandson, Joseph Maly of Salem, Ore. Joe returned to Earlville to be a custodian at the local schools.

Eula Knutson, a well-known and loveable first grade teacher in Earlville, will be portrayed by Kris Goodbred of Earlville.

Jack Myers, a local milkman who delivered right to his customers’ refrigerators, was known as the town character. He will be portrayed by his son, Don Myers of Bloomington.

Narrator/greeter for the event will be Deacon Mike Evers of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.

The Cemetery Walk will have three performances starting at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Transportation will be provided by bus from the Historical Museum in downtown Earlville to the cemetery and back. Accessible parking will be available at the Earlville Medical Clinic.

Tickets for the event are $5 each and may be purchased from The Barber Shop, First State Insurance, Sandy’s Shear Magic and on the day of the walk at the Historical Museum. A dress rehearsal will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 10 a.m. for anyone who cannot attend the walk on Sunday. Everyone must have a ticket to attend.

In case of rain, the event will be held in the west gym at Earlville High School.
