MENDOTA - The South Conference of the Northern Illinois Synod – ELCA will hold a Reformation Fair on Sunday, April 30 from 3-5 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota. This special event, hosted by 16 congregations in the South Conference, will feature a variety of activities for all ages.
See Martin Luther as portrayed by Roger Haeffner, examples of Reformation art shown by Pastor Tammy Anderson, the origins of the pretzel and bake-your-own with Pastor William Weidenbach and Pastor Marilyn Hanson, a replica of Luther’s door with Martin Luther’s 95 Theses brought to the event by Pastor Kim Lee-Brown, print your own Luther’s Seal with help from Pastor Tim Kenyon and take home a Luther’s Seal craft project with assistance provided by Pastor Janet Lepp and members of the Mendota congregation, and learn about some of the hymns written by Martin Luther from Pastor Kris Zierke.
Refreshments will include lemonade, coffee and cookies.
To conclude the Reformation Fair, Luther’s Chorale will sing during a closing worship at 4:30 p.m. Participants will be invited to sing period hymns along with the choir.
St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 607 10th Ave., Mendota. The public is invited to attend.
