Mendota and Princeton battled in a nip-and-tuck volleyball match that went to the Spikers, 26-24, 25-22, in nonconference action on Sept. 10 at Prouty Gym in Princeton.
Myah Boelk paced the Spikers with eight kills and had four service points along with Abby Phalen and Peyton Baird. Baird also contributed six kills and three blocks, while Phalen collected eight digs and three blocks. Larkin O’Donnell led the squad with six service points and nine digs. Also, Ella Massey supplied 16 assists and three blocks, and Amellia Bromenschenkel provided four blocks.
Mendota had an easier time in winning the sophomore match, 25-12, 25-18.
Princeton avoided the sweep with a 25-17, 17-25, 26-24 triumph over the Mendota freshmen.

Mendota played its season-opener in the Big Northern Conference and it was a rough night for the Spikers in losing a 25-18, 25-18 match to Rockford Lutheran on Sept. 13 at Rockford.
Phalen topped the team with six kills and added four digs along with Boelk. Baird connected on five service points and two blocks, while Massey delivered 16 assists.
The Spikers are 9-4 overall.
Mendota was victorious in the sophomore match.
The freshman Spikers were 25-13, 25-23 winners.
