MENDOTA – The Mendota Spikers made short work of Byron with a 25-16, 25-10 win in a Big Northern Conference volleyball matchup on Oct. 2 at the MHS gym.
Peyton Baird and Myah Boelk led the power game at the net with seven and six kills, respectively. Baird also posted a pair of blocks, as did Bianca Espinoza and Jaelyn Fitzgerald. Ella Massey jump-started the offense to the tune of 24 assists and she led the squad with eight service points. Boelk and Jenna O’Donnell contributed seven service points apiece, while Larkin O’Donnell picked up 11 digs.
Mendota improved to 19-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The sophomore Spikers also cruised to victory over Byron, 25-12, 25-11.
Mendota’s freshmen made it three wins on the night with a 25-13, 28-26 triumph.
