Rock Falls had too much firepower and cruised past Mendota, 25-12, 25-15, in Big Northern Conference varsity volleyball action on Oct. 22 at the MHS gym.
The Spikers were led by Ella Massey with 12 assists and 10 digs, while Amellia Bromenschenkel provided six kills and Lauren Martin came away with eight digs. Jenna O’Donnell and Amanda Barrett added seven and six digs, respectively.
Rock Falls (33-1) was paced by University of Evansville recruit Elise Moeller’s eight kills.
Rock Falls beat Mendota’s sophomores in two sets and defeated the freshman Spikers in three sets.

Mendota concluded the regular season with a 25-21, 25-21 loss at Oregon in a BNC match on Oct. 24. The Spikers finished the conference schedule with a 5-5 record. Rock Falls went 10-0 to win the league title.
Topping the statistics chart for the Spikers were Massey (18 assists, 12 digs), Jaelyn Fitzgerald (nine kills), Bromenschenkel (six kills, 10 digs), Martin (14 digs), O’Donnell (17 digs) and Barrett (10 digs).
Oregon won the sophomore match 14-25, 25-18, 25-17.
Mendota’s freshmen lost in two sets.
