So many new experiences at this year’s Relay for Life in Mendota

MENDOTA - Everyone is welcome to join the fun at the March to A Million 2019 Relay for Life to be held Saturday, July 13 through Sunday morning at Lake Mendota. Come out and enjoy a variety of activities – some old, some new. 

The Survivor Dinner will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Mendota Civic Center. Opening Relay ceremonies will kick off at 6 p.m. with the ending program at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Relay is excited to have Country Lane Carriage of Earlville at this year’s event providing horse drawn carriage rides from 5-6 p.m. and beginning again around 7 p.m. In addition, there will be a Bouncy House for kids, a Photo Booth, a Butterfly Release, and a terrific entertainer, Carley Baudino, who is based out of LaSalle County. Baudino is an upcoming singer, songwriter, and guitarist who will perform during and after the Luminaria Ceremony

New food vendors this year include Passini’s Wood Fire Pizza and Diaz’s Tacos.

Returning events, which are sure to tickle everyone’s fancy include alligator wrestling, Bingo laps, the ever-popular Dessert Walk, Joke Contest, and Bark Like a Chicken contest

This is Upper Illinois Valley Relay’s 10th year and it will be a spectacular event. The committee’s goal at this Relay is to raise funds to put the total raised in 10 years at $1 million. They ask everyone to please come out and help them reach that goal.
