MENDOTA - The Mendota High School Rhythm Express show choir will sponsor a show choir camp next week for kids currently in grades 4-8.
A show choir is a high impact performance group of individuals that combines both voice and movement for a powerful combination. This camp will give students a basic background in vocal techniques and movement at a level commensurate with their age and abilities. Theater and other performance concepts will also be explored.
Instructors will include director Lori Schrock, show choir alumni Eric Masini and Payton Gehm and current members of The Rhythm Express.
The camp will be held in the high school auditorium/choir room on Monday-Wednesday, May 22, 23, 24 from 3:15-5:15 p.m.; Thursday, May 25 from 2-4:30 p.m. (8th graders may leave early to get ready for promotion); and Friday, May 26 from 2-4:30 p.m. Participants must report back to MHS at 7 p.m. on May 26 for the performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
Cost for the instruction, refreshments and a camp T-shirt is $50 per person. Registration forms can be found at the Northbrook Middle School office or Sports-n-Stuff in downtown Mendota. Registration is preferred by Wednesday, May 17 but will be accepted until May 22.
