MENDOTA - Shirley A. Widmer, 87, of Mendota passed away Dec. 10, 2018 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 at Holy Cross Church with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Shirley was born April 12, 1931 in Dimmick to Raymond and Mary (O’Connell) Munroe. She married Robert Widmer on June 6, 1953 in Mendota. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Rick (Robin) Widmer of Camdenton, Mo. and Rob Widmer of Mendota; one sister, Florence (John) McConville of Earlville; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three daughters, Mary Beth, Catherine and Patrice; and one son, Jim.
Shirley was a member of Holy Cross Church. She owned and operated Widmer and Sons Dealership with her husband and The Grapevine Women’s Clothing Store, both in Mendota. She was a member of the Mendota Moose Lodge, Mendota Elks Lodge, Mendota VFW Post 4079, and the Knights of Columbus.
