Schlund enjoyed preparing her quilting squares during the event, which brought back fond memories of her quilting days and the many treasures she made for her loved ones. (Photo contributed)
MENDOTA - Jeannie Rihm of Appleton, Wis. brought a fun quilting program to the Mendota Lutheran Home on July 27. Rihm entertained everyone with stories about quilters and brought along several patriotic pieces for all to enjoy.
Attendees at the program were also able to see several quilts shared by Wanda Kofoid from her personal family collection including one that was stitched long ago by Martha Schlund. The event drew a large number of family members, community friends and staff, which created quite a buzz in the Harris Lounge that day.
Each resident was able to choose red, white and blue fabric pieces that will become their own flag block and Rihm will turn the blocks into a masterpiece quilt.
