‘Serve it Safely’ will teach food safety for volunteers at food events

LA SALLE - Many times, food event volunteers require a basic understanding of food safety to ensure a wholesome food product is served at low-risk for causing food-borne illness. Serve it Safely provides research-based education from University of Illinois Extension in a two-hour class.

By attending, each participant will receive the knowledge of how to serve food safely to the public, a packet of resource materials, and a certificate of completion. Join Nutrition and Wellness Educator, Susan Glassman for University of Illinois Extension’s Serve it Safely class designed for volunteers of food events.

Serve it Safely will be offered from 9:30–11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at the Extension Education Center & Community Teaching Kitchen, 944 First St., LaSalle. The program is free. Class size is limited to 30.

Advance registration is required by April 19; phone (815) 224-0889 or register online at https://go.illinois.edu/servevolunteers.
