LaSALLE – Putting points on the scoreboard has been an issue for the Mendota Trojans all season, and it was no different against LaSalle-Peru on Jan. 15.
The Trojans scored just one first-quarter point and it didn’t get much better after that in a 49-17 loss to the Cavaliers in a non-conference game at the L-P gym.
L-P hit a pair of three-pointers to help it to a 12-1 lead after the opening stanza and the Cavs continued with the three-ball in the second frame, connecting on three of them to build a 27-6 halftime bulge. The count was 38-12 after three quarters.
Emiliano Arteaga led Mendota (3-17) with five points, while Eddie Perez and Mauricio Escatel each had three tallies.
Mendota’s game with Ottawa Marquette on Jan. 12 was postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the MHS gym. The sophomore game will tip at 5:30 p.m.
