MENDOTA - Salvador Escatel Arteaga, 85, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, surrounded by loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 31 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mendota with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 30 at the Wasmer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mike “Memo” Escatel, Uvaldo Escatel, Ramiro Escatel, Carm Escatel, José Reyez and Nick Gardner.
Salvador was born April 19, 1936 in Totatiche Jalisco Mexico to Enrique and Antonia (Arteaga) Escatel. He married Maria Pilar in Mexico.
Survivors include his wife of Mendota; four sons, Mike “Memo” (Mary) Escatel of Mendota, Uvaldo (Carmen Arteaga) Escatel of Mendota, Ramiro (Grace) Escatel of LaSalle and Carm Escatel of LaMoille; three daughters, Celina (José) Reyez of LaSalle, Chela Silva (Jason Dobrydnia) Escatel of LaSalle and Lela (Carlos) Saucedo of Yorkville; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; three sisters; two sons, Ramirito and Nicolas on March 26, 2021; and a great -granddaughter, Bella Escatel.
For many years Salvador worked maintenance for Del Monte.
