PERU - Russell Lee Swayze, 86, of Peru, formerly of Park Ridge and Earlville, passed way Aug. 27, 2018 at Manor Court of Peru.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 30 at the Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Russell was born Dec. 30, 1931 in Earlville to William and Maude (Yarnell) Swayze.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Rave of Earlville and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Hindle, Viola Anen and Irene Guilde; and two brothers, Delbert Swayze and Orville Swayze.
Russell was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He taught art to elementary students at several schools in Park Ridge and was president of the teacher’s union. He enjoyed collecting antiques, taking beautiful photos and painting with watercolors.
