PAW PAW - Roy E. Sones, 73, of Paw Paw passed away Feb. 13, 2019 at his residence.
Cremation rites were accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at South Point Park Community Building in El Paso. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roy was born July 18, 1945 in Chicago to Roy and Sallee (Knurek) Sones. He married Julie R. Sones on Nov. 22, 1996 in DeKalb.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Steve (Diana Jo) Sones of Bolingbrook, Tyson Sones of Stanford, and Debra Scott-Sones and Dawn Sones, both of Bolingbrook; two step-sons, Troy Davis of LaSalle-Peru and Raymond (Joleen) Hudson of Minonk; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Ryan; and one granddaughter, Julia.
Roy worked as a Bolingbrook Police officer and drove a truck for P.I.N.I. Motor Express. He enjoyed researching history, reading, fishing, and cooking including smoking food. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Memorials may be made to the family to be given to his favorite charities.
