ROCHELLE - Rosemary “Rosie” Simpson, 64, of Rochelle, formerly of Mendota, left this world on July 25, 2020 at JourneyCare Hospice Center in Barrington where she had been a patient for several days and family said their goodbyes in her final struggle with COPD.
Rose was born April 10, 1956 in Mendota to Marion “Tuffy” Simpson and Zada Brown Simpson.
Survivors include three grown children, Bradley Simpson of Minnesota, Erika Hallam and David Myers of Texas; five grandchildren, all in Texas; three sisters, Andrea Bryan formerly of Mendota, Dawn Sturges of Arkansas, and Shawn Cherney of Naperville; and nieces, nephews, several cousins, and aunts.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rosie grew up near LaMoille where she attended school and then graduated from Mendota High School. She was involved in tumbling most of her life as a participant, a studio owner, coach and in later years as a judge for USTA. A scholarship in honor of her has been created by the USTA. She was also a talented artist, a friendly, caring and kind person who always welcomed all with a big smile. She most recently made her home in Rochelle and was a member of the Methodist church.
