TROY GROVE – Roger A. Carr, 75, of Troy Grove, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Heritage Health, Mendota surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 2 at noon at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Vicar Anthony Windau officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral and private burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until time of services.
Roger was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Mendota to Kenneth and Helen (Piller) Carr. He married Joanne Underwood on Aug. 24, 1969 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota.
Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years Joanne Carr; three children, Julie (Frankie) Ponder, Jimmy (Michelle) Carr and Jodi (Bob) Arteaga; five grandchildren, Casey and Rylee Ponder, Bobby and Gabe Arteaga and and Raigan Carr; sister Carolyn Hartt; brother Ronnie (Marsha) Carr; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Robin Underwood and Mike and Linda Fisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Francis and Helen Rich, and his brothers-in-law Alan Rich and John Hartt.
Roger graduated from Mendota High School in 1966. He worked at Triumph CO-OP and then Moline Consumers for over 30 years. He was a volunteer for the Triumph Fire Department and past Fire Chief for several years. He was a Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
