MENDOTA - Rogelio Arteaga, 83, of Mendota passed away Oct. 5, 2018 at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehab Center, Shabbona.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Holy Cross Church with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota.
Rogelio was born Oct. 28, 1934 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Adolfo and Refujio (Perez) Arteaga. He married Felipa Perez in 1977 at Holy Cross Church.
Survivors include his wife of Mendota; one daughter, Maria (Raul) Arteaga of Plano; one granddaughter, Julia Sophia Salinas; three brothers, Francisco (Elisa) Arteaga of Mendota, his twin, Salvador Arteaga of Addison and Samuel Arteaga of Mexico; two sisters, Victorina Arteaga of Indianapolis and Andelina Arteaga of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Isabel Arteaga, Bernardino Arteaga and Jesus Arteaga.
During his work career, Rogelio did line work and picking for Del Monte and Monterey Mushrooms respectively. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Thursday night Bible study group.
