ROCK FALLS – Rock Falls broke a tie in the fifth inning and went on to down Mendota, 8-4, in a Big Northern Conference varsity softball game on March 25 at Rock Falls.
Mendota got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI single by Emma Boatman. Rock Falls answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and the scored remained 2-1 until the top of the fourth when the Lady Trojans pushed across a pair of runs.
But the Lady Rockets quickly tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then scored twice in the fifth and three times in the sixth to put the game away. Mendota added a single tally in the seventh.
Mendota collected nine hits in the contest with Eve Herbert picking up a single and a double. Jenna O’Donnell and Zoe Finley also doubled for the Lady Trojans.
Rock Falls picked up 13 hits off of Mendota pitcher Mary DeFore, who took the loss in the complete-game effort. DeFore walked four and did not have a strikeout.
