MENDOTA - Robert Politsch, 86, of Mendota passed away July 21, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota with Rev. Kim Lee-Brown officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Compton. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, July 30 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Robert was born Sept. 18, 1931 in Mendota to Fred and Ruth (Hurst) Politsch. He married Lois Zimmerlein on Oct. 7, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1997. He married Joanne Haub on June 13, 1998 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota.
Survivors include his wife Joanne of Mendota; his son, Dennis (Kathy) Politsch of Mendota; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step children, Dennis (Mary) Haub of Sycamore, Susan (Mike) Schultz of Mendota, James Haub of Dayton, Ohio and Sallie (Herb) Kroninger of Bradenton, Fla.; eleven step grandchildren; and 15 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Politsch.
Robert graduated from Mendota High School in 1949. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was employed at Conco in Mendota for 24 years and Classon’s Super Foods until his retirement in 1992. His most admired love was woodworking, especially carving. He enjoyed camping and going to his grandkids’ sporting events.
