OHIO - Robert E. Minnick, 88, a resident of Ohio, Ill. died April 18, 2019 at Heritage Health in Walnut.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio with Rev. Thomas Shaw officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ohio. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the rosary recited at 4:45 p.m.
Robert was born March 10, 1931 in Ohio, Ill. to John and Ruth (Scallon) Minnick. He married Lois Plasschaert on Oct. 1, 1955 in Sheffield. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2018.
Survivors include his children, Linda Minnick of Denton, Texas, Charles (Tracey) Minnick of Clinton, Iowa, Deb (Kevin) Guinn of Graham, Texas and Kevin (Christine) Minnick of Princeton; and eight grandchildren, Drew Minnick, Tyler Minnick, Beau Minnick, Kalin Westerman, Jordan Minnick, Jarod Guinn, Grace Minnick and a step-grandchild, Tanner Guinn.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one granddaughter, Lillian Minnick; two sisters and six brothers.
Robert farmed for many years in the area and was a truck driver for several local trucking companies until his retirement. He was a retired Teamster and drove a school bus. He was a member of the Walnut-Ohio Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio. Robert was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
A memorial has been established in his memory to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
