MENDOTA - Rita Clare Weber, 80, of Mendota, passed away July 7, 2018 at home surrounded by family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Pilon at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 12 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with a recitation of the rosary at 3:15 p.m.

Rita was born July 25, 1937 in Eureka to Daniel and Marie Michael Krumholz. She married the love or her life Norbert Weber on Dec. 26, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora.

Survivors include her husband of Mendota; five children, Susan (Scott) Seifert of Baraboo Wis., Mark Weber of Pebble Beach Calif., Elaine (Jay) Schmidt of Bloomington and Eric (Rachel) Weber of Saint Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Joshua Seifert, Daniel (Allyssa) Seifert and Michael Seifert, all of Baraboo Wis., Jessica (Cory) Geurts of Green Bay, Wis. and Ryan Schmidt of Downs; and five brothers and sisters, Rosemary Knoblauch, Tony Krumholz, Dan Jr. (JoAnn) Krumholz and Mary (Carl) Adams, all of Metamora, and Bill (Joan) Krumholz of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Daniel Weber; one sister, Delores (William) Knoblauch; and one brother, Bernard Krumholz.

Rita was a loving mother to her five children and five grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and sharing all the vegetables the garden produced. She was also famous for her homemade pies and cinnamon rolls. She was a dedicated member and volunteer at Holy Cross Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altar Society in Mendota. She was a 20-year volunteer at Mendota Community Hospital/OSF Saint Paul Medical Center.

Memorials may be directed to the Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry or Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi retired sisters fund in Milwaukee, Wis.
