AMBOY - Richard L. Geiger, 71, of Amboy, died suddenly on June 24, 2018 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Jack Briggs officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 29 at the funeral home.

Richard was born June 23, 1947 in Chicago to Richard J. and Sylvia (Weber) Geiger. He married Peggy Cummings and she preceded him in death. He then married Joan Burghardt in Yorkville in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; three children, Gena (Steve Reitmeyer) Geiger-Chan of St. Charles, Brandy Geiger of San Diego, Calif. and Erick (Christina Dozier) Geiger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one step-daughter, Laura Morrison of Amboy; three grandchildrenc Kailey Rose (Sam) Kilgore, Ryan Korey Chan and Matthew Shane Geiger; one brother, Eugene (Beth Anne) Geiger of Bolingbrook; and one niece, Amanda Geiger of Tallahassee, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents.

Richard worked as a claims adjuster for CNA Insurance prior to his retirement. He also worked at H&R Block in Mendota and the City of Amboy. He served as a board member and volunteer for Teen Turf in Amboy. He enjoyed horseback riding, bluegrass and folk music and playing his banjo. He was an avid reader and history buff. He loved automobiles and motorcycles, animals, especially cats, and spending time with his family.
